A whole new culture for Adair County Schools

A new culture is being planted throughout the Adair County Schools. It is all about finding and nurturing leadership qualities in each child, teacher, bus driver, cook, custodian, maintenance worker, assistant, secretary, and administrator within our district. These new signs are just the beginning of the changes to come thanks to the Race to the Top Grant. This year we start our journey to focus on the "Leader in Me" culture and building a better future for not only our children but our adults. - Shamarie Claiborne

These adorable planters will greet visitors at the Farmers Market on the Square on Saturday, August 9, 2014. They will be at Sandra Evert's S.T.E. Designs booth, until someone purchases them. They will be for sale. The Farmers Market on the Square, one of only 48 food locations in Kentucky highlight in the Kentucky Department of Agriculture's Bon Apetit Appalachia will be open 8am-1pmCT, Saturday, August 9, 2014 and every Saturday until the last Saturday in October, 2014. This Saturday is FM2's special National Farmers Market Week celebration market.

The fellowship hall at Columbia United Methodist Church became a hostelry dorm on Monday evening, August 4, 2014, when the Eagle Scouts Cycling Across America used the facility for an overnight stay. The hospitality was arranged by BicyclingAcrossAdair.com's founders Gary & Diane Rose through a cycling program, Warm Showers The warm showers were provided by the Lindsey Wilson College Holloway Wellness Center. Fatal fire scene, still smoldering at 5pmCT

The fire which took the life of an as yet unidentified woman was still smoldering at 5pmCT today, Tuesday, August 5, 2014. Billows of smoke could be seen from the town side of Russell Creek on KY 61 N/Greensburg Road on approach to the scene.

Fatal fire scene, 245 Milltown Road, Columbia, KY

This residence at 245 Milltown Road, Columbia, KY (Milltown Community) was the scene of an early morning tragedy which took the life of a woman whose identity is yet to be confirmed by the Kentucky State Medical Examiner. The picture was taken by a reader early this morning, Tuesday, August 5, 2014. "The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by the Adair County Coroner's Office, Ky State Police and Ky State Fire Marshall's Office," Donald Hare, Public Information Officer for the C/AC Fire Department, said.
