New interchange at LBN & US 68 taking shape
 2014-08-15 - From new overpass, US 68/LBN interchange, Edmonton, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener. Traffic on US 68 between Edmonton and Greensburg is already using the new bridge as the interchange is now only weeks away from construction. On the right, the exit from US 68 to the Louie B. Nunn to Columbia, Russell Springs, Nancy and Somerset and points east takes shape. On the left, the exit from the LBN to US 68. The new interchange will shave some 5 miles off the trip to and from Edmonton. It will also be part of building a major highway hub at Edmonton. Plans are already underway to improve US 68, and KY 163, from Tompkinsville to Edmonton is being steadily improved. - EW

Opening Day 2014, Adair Co. School District: Leader in Me

Leader in Me ProgramHallie Burton, Meredith Compton, Anna Lloyd, Sadie Kemp, and Ellie Cheatham during the 2014-2015 Adair County Schools Opening Day Ceremony. A group of students conducted the meeting from beginning to end to promote the new Leader in Me program that is being implemented across the district. The event went off without a hitch and was a huge success. The keynote speaker was Gracie: a six year old who provides information to teachers on how to connect with digital babies like herself. Jailer Rick Wilson addresses court on costs of low pay

Adair County Jailer Rick Wilson had the full attention of Adair Fiscal Court, August 12, 2014, at its regular monthly meeting, when he addressed what he described as a crisis in retaining trained employees at the Adair Regional Jail, in large part because of non-competitive pay. Wilson's problem were echoed by 911 Coordinator Greg Thomas and County Road Department Superintendent Jobe Darnell. Judge Melton noted the problem throughout County Government, citing losses of highly qualified personnel in the Judge's office and the Sheriff's Department.
