Birds of Kentucky: Bald Cardinal

2014-08-18 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Pen. Although this beleaguered guy might disagree, the Bird Guys at the Tulsa Audubon Society say that balding in cardinals and blue jays is not something to get too worried about. It's usually caused by mites that the birds can't reach, and the feathers generally grow back in a few weeks.

Clifton Glynn Nixon, ACHS 1958, hangs from scaffolding

2014-08-18 - Bardin Building - Photo CM Staff Photo.
How are the members of the ACHS Class of 1958 doing? If Clifton Glynn "Red" Nixon is typical, they are all still in prime condition, even 56 years after graduating from Adair County High School. That's Red, hanging from the scaffolding, looking at the camera to get his picture taken while renovating the Bardin Building in Downtown Columbia. His company also completed the adaptive reuse project during a burned out Firestone Building into the showplace Red Brick Studio. He's now the premier historic preservation contractor in Adair County, more active than ever years after retiring after a career coaching in the Adair County School District. As Track Coach, he holds the distinction of coaching the only Kentucky state track championship ever won in the program. If you want an impossible building renovation, get in line - "Right now I'm covered up in projects," he said. Clicking Read More accesses a new class list just added for reunion reference on CM, the Adair County High School Class of 1958, Michael Morris, President. EW
