Kody's K5K Booth at BSST, Labor Day, Sept. 1, 2014

Billy Joe Pelly and Kimberly Green Pelly the parents of the late Kody Pelly are promoting the Kody's K5K Fun Run/Walk, set for 8amCT, Saturday, September 20, 2014, to start at the Holloway Wellness Center, 299 Wiliams Street Columbia, KY. All proceeds go to the WHAS Crusade for Children. The Pelly's booth is set up in Downtown Columbia as part of the Buy, Swap, Sell & Trade Day, now going on today Monday, Labor Day, September 1, 2014. The photos at left are of Kody, whose words, "I like the person I am today. Everybody likes to be somebody," are a reminder to everyone of now to live a life with meaning, as his was. Heather Bryant has a pastries booth set up in front of Harvest Cafe with many of the popular restaurants featured pastries, including the house favorite, the Cream Cheese Walnut Mauritius, from the Cafe's owners native country, Mauritius, an island paradise off the East Coast of Africa.

Bryant Harrison Rogers at Buy, Swap, Sell or Trade Day


2014-09-01 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Bryant Harrison Rogers, center, was looking after the old folks, his uncle, Dr. Adam Rogers, and his grandfather, Dr. Ron P. Rogers Labor Day, September 1, 2014, at the annual Buy, Sell, Swap, or Trade Day. Bryant is the son of Matthew and Leslie Bennett Rogers. He's now a very mature 5 years old, quite adept at eldercare. Didn't find out if he's held on to his Burr Ray family speak name bestowed by cousins Hayden and Addie Bennett.

2014 President's Cup goes to CU in inaugural year


2014-09-01 - 275 Country Club Road, Adair County, KY - Photo from Lindsey Wilson College. Campbellsville University Women's Golf Team captured the Inaugural President's Cup at the Pines at Lindsey Wilson on August 31, 2014, with former Adair County High School golfer Ashley Goodin, niece of new Campbellsville University Coach Kim Goodin, providing the Number 2 individual score. Lindsey Wilson Men won the cup for the second year in a row, behind top individual scorer Alex Durham, another Adair County High School graduate.

28th Volunteer Lakeshore Cleanup is September 20, 2014

Volunteer and now Summer Ranger for the Corps, David Goode
left, and Summer Ranger Gary Curry were filling up the dumpster with trash removed from the shoreline of the lake at the 2013 Lakeshore Cleanup in a dumpster donated by Waste Management of Campbellsville, KY. The 28th Annual Volunteer Lakeshore Cleanup will be held on Saturday September 20, 2014 this year. Last year, over 500 volunteered. More are needed for the 2014 drive. Organization is underway now. And Boat Drivers are urgently needed. The Green River Lakeshore clean up grows each year. Last year, more than 500 volunteers came to help, but they were handicapped by lack of boats to get them to and from clean designations. If you can help these volunteers clean up the lakeshore you enjoy so much, call 270-465-4463. - ANDREA O'BRYAN, Park Ranger.

Gabby, an abandoned Yorkie/Pug, now in loving home

This is Gabby, an adorable Yorkie/Pug mix,
who was left behind when her owner moved. She was being cared for but not being loved. This all changed when she was adopted by a disabled woman who needed a forever companion. Now Gabby is being loved and she's loving her new owner back with kisses and constant tail wags. - Peg Schaeffer
