Red Nixon was among the diverse crowed with attended the impromptu rally for U.S. Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes on a busy afternoon, Saturday, September 6, 2014. Red, a hero of the ACHS class of 1958, remembered for being able to enter a tight basketball game, shoot - and hit - a 30 foot game winning goal the first time he'd get his hands on the ball and who may have been the only person the late coach John Burr would never criticize for impetuousness if he missed - is also the only Adair County High School Coach ever to coach a state Track & Field champion. Today, at 76, he is the premier preservation contractor in the area. But don't try to hire him. He's booked up heavier than ever.

LWC Football: Chaz Barnes

Lindsey Wilson College wide receiver Chaz Barnes of Alcoa, Tenn., completes a 47-yard pass play in the first quarter of Saturday's game against Reinhardt (Ga.) University at Blue Raider Stadium. The play set up LWC's second touchdown, which gave the Blue Raiders a 13-0 lead. But the Eagles rallied to upset No. 18 LWC 52-48. For the game, Barnes caught seven pass for 131 yards.

Re-visit Knifley: Walkers in the 5k
 2014-09-07 - Knifley, KY - Photo by Debbie Cowan. The first ever 5K at the 4 Way Run/Walk was held Saturday, September 6, 2014 as part of the Revisit Knifley Festival in Knifley Ky. Over 60 persons participated in this event. Runners/walkers are shown here at the beginning of the race. The route took them to the Old State Hwy 551, a main artery into Knifley prior to 1964, now a scenic, secluded path to the Arnolds Landing lake area.
