Scenic Adair Co., KY: West Prong of Glens Fork Creek

2014-10-01 - Third District, Adair Co., KY - Photo by Linda Waggener. Pretty without any water and, so far without a name we can learn. There are just a few pools of water in the steam, and a little most, and lots of flat rock. So far, going to the very highest District and County Road Department levels, we haven't be able to find a name for it. This is at it's crossing on T. Bradshaw Road. The stream rises on the Burbridge Farm on Yellowhammer and flows into Glens Fork Creek after passing through the Calvin Aaron farm Old Glens Fork Road, and the Henry Garnett place. If anyone knows either a proper or official name, just give a call 270-250-2730 or use the Comments button with this photo. - EW. Clicking Read More accesses Mike Keltner's research identifying the Creek as West Prong of Glens Fork Creek, and details on another tributary

Scenic Adair Co., KY: T. Bradshaw Road at Yellowhammer Road

2014-10-01 - District 3, Adair Co., KY - Photo By Linda Waggener. Two of Adair County's most scenic byways, intersect twice about a mile apart. This is the more complex eastern one, with its graveled connector on the west side of the interchange. Probably a good thing, otherwise one might intuitively take the gravelled exit, become mesmerized by the beauty of the place, and never get off the loop. The view is looking toward Yellowhammer from T. Bradshaw; the right hand turn is the proper exit to get to Yellowhammer, thence to Old Glensfork Road, where one has to decide between a right turn to the Central Business District in Glensfork or a left to KY 55 South Road, which takes one past Tupman's Pond, and, just beyond, "Tutman" Lane. Curious signage, but still a part of some of the most gorgeous countryside on the planet. - EW

I am always amazed at what we overlook in life on a daily basis. We all need to slow down a little bit and enjoy what is right in front of us. - Shamarie Claiborne
