The Changing Face of Burkesville ST & Hudson ST Corner

2014-10-17 - Columbia, KY - Photo ColumbiaMagazine.com (c). A lot of memories are gone now. the Gate Gas Station, convenient store, and adjoining car wash were almost completely razed by Friday, 17 Oct 2014 at around 1pmCT. The station was the next to the last station in Adair County where there were always attendants to pump the gas, check the oil, and wash windshields. Now there is just one, Lynn's Service Center, on Jamestown Street, which is now the only full service gas station in Adair County, and maybe in all of the 7-County CM service area of Adair, Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell and Taylor Counties. (We'd welcome comeuppance on that 16th hour of the work day at 10:40pmCT). Comments or memories, anecdotes, memories of managers, and especially the dates when the gas station above built and its various badges besides Gate would be appreciate. - EW
