There was nothing but raves for the homemade soup at the Customer Appreciation Day for the Farmer's Market on the Square on Saturday, 18 Oct 2014. Over 200 went through the line to sample the food, served but, from left in pink, Maury Lewis (aka melewi) the Burris Gang, Danny and Debbie, from D & B Longview Angus Farms, Gradyville, KY, and Rhonda Parker of Jenny Creek Farm in Greensburg, KY. The soups included Potato Soup, Chili, Cabbage Stew, Vegetable Soup, Baked Potato Soup, Chicken Noodle Soup, Vegetable Beef Soup, White Chili, Butternut Acorn Squash Soup, Chicken Rice Tortilla Soup, Minestrone Soup. There was fresh baked breads and corn muffins and a Birthday cake for Caitlin Helm for dessert. Barbara Armitage, he hostess for the occasion, said plans are already underway for one or more similar buffets next year. One of South Central Kentucky's most beautiful drives is KY 92 from Zion through Beautiful Joppa to Montpelier to Esto to Jamestown, KY. Along the way there are things to learn, as well, as we did when we noticed for the first time ever that Adair County has a Used Cow dealership. The jacket advertises "Sammy Baker Used Cows, Columbia, KY, 270-378-6496." He's settled in, and everyone in his new home is giving him all the love he craves. Janet Novak says, writing to Peg Schaeffer of Sugarfoot, "Remi is such a loving dog! He just melts when you give him attention which could be 24/7 if it were up to him! My husband is such a sucker for that kind of dog that there is no doubt he has found the right master." The Novak family in Connecticut opened up their heart to Remington - Remi - and both dog and new family are loving each other. It took a little warming up to each other to make it work, Janet Novak writes. "Remi had the growlies for a few days, but knowing how stressful this has all been for him, it was to be expected. He was definitely leery of Cedwick (our other setter) which seemed funny to us because Cedwick is so mild mannered and quite yielding to all other dogs." But most of that is behind them now.
