Officer Kevin Atwood stands in for Superintendent on radio

2014-10-25 - The WAVE Studio, Russell Springs Road, Columbia, KY - Photo by Larry Smith.
Officer Kevin Atwood, Adair County School resource officer,
filled in for Supt. Alan Reed on my Friday morning, Superintendent Minute on 92.7 The Wave. Atwood talked about school security and the importance of having police presence on school grounds, both as a deterrent to those who might do harm, and about the value of letting students know that policemen are their friends. He said that one of the biggest contributions he me can make is to talk with students person to person or in small informal groups. - Larry Smith

Columbia's Jr. Stotts with Alison Lundergan Grimes

2014-10-25 - Greensburg, KY - Photo by Larry Smith.
Columbia's Junior Stotts was greeted with long time friend Alison Lundergan Grimes on a campaign stop in Greensburg, KY, my hometown. Stotts was the only Columbian I saw, but gathering was strong. Green County Judge Misty Edwards was there. Alison spoke in the Historic Green County Courthouse, the oldest one in the State of Kentucky. She gave a rock star performance sounding her populist theme calling for not a minimum wage, but a livable wage. Her theme is give the struggling people who want to work, a chance to do so. She really got into a song a man in the crowd sang to her, one whose lyrics he wrote especially for the occasion. - LARRY SMITH
