(Free Cycling Ad) Free Ivy available

2014-10-30 - Fairplay, KY - Photo by Joyce Coomer.
This ivy is taking over on the front porch at work. If anyone would like to have some to put on banks or for use in topiaries, they are welcome to get however much they want. The only thing I ask is that they take it from the top down so there won't be dead pieces left hanging close to the ceiling. I'm going to take the entire batch down in a couple of weeks. It roots easily and is winter hardy. - Joyce M. Coomer. 270-384-4495 Clicking Read More accesses notice that IVY has all been taken.

Three crosses - a view from the ark

2014-10-30 - 9401 Burkesville Road, Columbia, KY - Photo by Mike Regan.
As the Ark on the knoll behind Sparksville Baptist Church was being built this past summer, this photo was taken through the forward wall framing; toward the church. Curiously, if one zooms the picture in, 3 crosses are seen, with the cross of Jesus in the center, upon the new steeple of the church. You see the cross in the framing, the steeple cross and the utility pole cross beyond the church, all in a line. Symbolically, the cross in the wall framing is now hidden; ie: the thief on Calvary that went to Heaven; the cross of Jesus atop the steeple, still a symbol of great glory that stands high around the world; and the cross of the utility pole carrying electricity, a symbol of fire and the fate of the evil thief on Calvary. What's in a photo? Many times it's more that seen at first glance! Thank you for looking....and imagining! Sent by Mike Regan, Sparksville Baptist Church, Columbia, KY.

The Giant Pencil - Maybe most unusual political ad in Kentucky

2014-10-30 - Burkesville Road at Veterans Bypass, Columbia, KY - Photo (c) ColumbiaMagazine.com.
The most unusual political ad in Kentucky this year may this this giant 54' tall pencil - still awaiting its sharpened tip at the base being built by Bobby Morrison, in the bucket truck beside midway up, for the Dr. Ben Arnold, write in candidate for Mayor of Columbia. Morrison has been aided by a ground crew including his brother Dale Morrison, and above Danny Grant. Arnold said that the pencil is letting supporters know how very simple it is to write his name in on the ballot. For those who need help, he said, poll workers can help on request, but, according to Adair County Court Clerk Joyce Rodgers, they can't offer help without being asked for it. Arnold has two opponents on the ballot, former Mayor Curtis Hardwick and Columbia City Councillor June Parson. The election is now 5 days off, long enough to see many changes in standings. - CM (c)
