And he's always here for important events - Gerald Holt, the incoming President of the Columbia Rotary Club, was an expected supporter of the Columbia/Adair County Fire Department's Crusade for Children Breakfast on Saturday, 1 Nov 2014. He's best known for leadership roles with the civic club, and cycling/healthy lifestyles enthusiasts, but he's also offering classes on computer use and website development, and, when he can find time to fit it in, making housecalls for tech challenged computer owners. - CM

The 'Hospital' at Adair County High School

2014-11-02 - ACHS, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia KY - Photo Adair County School District Photo.
Career Pathways for Adair County High School just got a big boost with the addition of hospital beds in Jennifer Carter's health care options. These beds, donated to the program lend a real healthcare facility atmosphere or the students. (And those are mannequins in the beds; not initially apparent until it was explained). Carter is an RN instructor who is a State, not District employee. There seven Health Care pathways in the Career Readiness program at Adair County High School. The CNA program, graduating Certified Nurse Assistants, is one of the most popular; the Pharm Tech is as well. Adair County School Superintend Alan W. Reed said that most classes in the Health Care pathway are full, and that interest in hiring the graduates has been high. - CM
