ACHS Chemistry students learn great real world lesson
2014-11-06 - ACHS, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia KY - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne. River Murley, Timothy Watson, Aaron Taylor and Kyndal Caldwell are shown here working this morning in Mrs. Peck's Chemistry II Class. The room was full of excitement as her students conducted a lab were they distilled hard water to remove the impurities of calcium, magnesium and iron. It was really interesting, watching all the burners boiling the water that without question was undrinkable. Then all the tubs and things running down to collect the cleaned water. As clear water dropped out of the condenser free of impurities all I kept thinking was - "What a great real world lesson." These students are ready for anything because they can now provide themselves and others with clean drinking water! Just saying... very cool lab today Mrs. Peck! - Shamarie Claiborne, News from the Adair County Board of Education. Paired Photo, See also: ACHS Chemistry students - II
