Topside of the Holler: The tree

2014-11-12 - Topside (the rest of the Universe outside The Holler, Old Clearsprings, Road, Ozark, KY - Photo By Shamarie Claiborne.
Fall 2014 photo This majestic tree is one of my favorite trees in all of Adair Co. It is in a field on E80 right across from White Lane. Gary Hatcher plants corn in the field each year so there are times when you can't get a good view of it, but from right now until mid summer it is always standing tall and proud.. - Shamarie Claiborne

Topside, the Holler: Save the last leaf

2014-11-12 - Topside (the rest of the Universe outside The Holler, Old Clearsprings, Road, Ozark, KY - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne, Adair Co. School District.
Holding on to the bitter end.-- It will be interesting to see just how long this fellow can hang on. He is the last leaf on a tree in our front yard and that rises over 60 feet. What I found to be the most entertaining and picture worthy is the fact that it is the very top leaf of the tree. I guess the wind has been working it’s way up the tree ….Shamarie Claiborne

2014-11-12 - Crawfish Town, 2815 Grand Point Hwy, Breaux Bridge, LA 70517 - Photo by Innocent Bystander.
They all have their styles - Anthony, Andrew, Guy, David Chang, Sean Brock - all the great food writers. Big Al has his, making real world food experiences come alive. Sometimes his destination is a food destination like Crawfish Town, in Louisiana, sometimes more formal dining in Nashville, Louisville, and Campbellsville, KY. Where ever he goes, the natives find him even when he adopts tribal attire. Above, the boy from Vester & Chicago, enjoyed the best of Breax Bridge, LA. and gives it a Regular Stop for Me Rating. It always has two of basic food groups: Corona and Tabasco, and main entree? the Seafood Gumbo: "I must say that it was the best gumbo I have ever tasted." If you're headed there for lunch, leave early : It's 766 miles, 10 hour, 58 minutes from Downtown Vester, KY according to Google Map)

Crawfish Town, Louisiana

Crawfish Town will be a regular stop for me anytime I am in the swamps of Louisiana. It is the 1st exit after you get off the long bridge heading west on I-10 in Louisiana. Breaux Bridge, in St. Martin Parish, LA, is the 'Crawfish Capital of the World.' (Website: Crawfish Town, USA) - Big Al Owens. If you go:
