The Band arrives to flashing lights, horns honking, cheers

2014-11-16 - Public Square at Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo (c) ColumbiaMagazine.com.
The high point of the parade was the passing of the two United Coaches carrying the Bands of America 2014 Class A Grand National Champions across the Columbia Square. "There they come!" was heard at the first peak of the first bus, accompanied by horns honking, headlights flashing, and applause. Every parking space around the square was taken by vehicles backed into the slots for a front row seat. Double parking added more spectators. - CM

First Parents, waiting for Bailey and the Band

2014-11-16 - Public Square at Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY - Photo (c) ColumbiaMagazine.com. Adair Band Booster President Mark Harris' parents and, more importantly, Bailey Harris' grandparents were early at the Square. Linda Harris, front, and Cookie Harris, were to be joined shortly by Brad Scholl and his mother, Vicki Scholl to welcome the 2014 BoA National Champion Adair Band home. Umbrellas were the prescribed dress item of the day, but the bone chilling drizzle didn't dampen spirits, at all. The welcome was seemed bigger than any for Adair County Band. Even though it was the third National Championship for the Band, the thrill of victory seems to grow as a new chapter is written continuously for the Band's Tradition of Excellence. - CM.
