2014 Campbellsville Vietnam Veterans Parade

The Campbellsville American Legion Color Guard led the Vietnam Veterans West on Main Street, Campbellsville, KY, this afternoon, in sight of the banner welcoming them home, near the 50th anniversary of the official American involvement in the war. They were greeted by the sound of "Good Morning, Vietnam," on speakers, and a montage of music, mostly rock and roll, from the 1964-1973 - songs by James Brown, Aretha Franklin, and more brought back memories of which caused many if not most in attendance to weep openly. The parade concluded at the Campbellsville Civic Center, at reception for the heroes. - LARRY SMITH, Operations Manager, Shoreline Communication.

Columbia Mayor-Elect Curtis Hardwick, a Vietnam War Veteran, met with Campbellsville Mayor Tony Young before the start of the 2014 Campbellsville Welcome Home Vietnam War Veterans Parade. Hardwick comes from a military family. His father, Oval (Tim) Hardwick served in World War II.
