No one was more excited than Buddy Sewell, right, about the Aerospace Pathway. Sewell spoke with IAE founder Dr. Tim Sewell after the meeting. Sewell had been recognized in the audience by Supt. Reed, who quipped the Cane Valley had been around since about the time of the Wright Bros. Reed also recalled that Sewell had served eight years on the Adair County School Board.

The Aerospace Pathway: Career and/or College Ready

Dr. Tim Smith, CEO of the Institute for Aerospace Education, soon to be the National Aerospace Institute, presented this graphic to show how the Aerospace program works in member schools. Students start out exploring all fields, then are trained in multiple areas, and make a decision in the junior year of chosen pathway. In the senior year, six hours of dual/college credit and industry certifications can be earned. A huge plus is that the dual credit hours are free. Students in the programs need buy only textbooks. - EW
