Silent Night: Main Street, Campbellsville, KY, Christmas Eve,
2014-12-25 - Main Street, Campbellsville, KY - Photo by Larry Smith. Before leaving the Big Dawg Studio to spend a Christmas eve with Conner, the Wonder Dawg and, perhaps, he says, the Smartest Dog in Taylor County - maybe Green, Adair, Casey, Marion & LaRue, too - Larry Smith snapped this picture of the lights on Main Street in Campbellsville. The street was empty. That beam from Heaven has no celestial meaning he knows of, but it could be, even so, an omen of the great things to come in Campbellsville in 2015. Already one of Kentucky's most Walkable Cities (TM). interest in Downtown Property is quite active. Most recently, he says, he saw a coy Columbia, KY power couple looking at the Bethel Building; when he told them, that would would be place for (your organization), the husband would only say, "You never know." (And Larry swore us to secrecy until and if something mateializes. -ED ) Photo by Larry Smith, Operations Manager, Shoreline Communications - FM 99.9 The Big Dawg & FM 92.7, The WAVE - Photo taken Wednesday, December 24, 2014.)

History Mystery Picture: Monument to memories
2014-12-25 - ?????, South Central Kentucky - Photo Pulled from CM raw files. YOU WRITE THE CUTLINE.It's a monument to memories. Every cinder block remaining of this once grand gathering place could signify thousands of memories: Of athletic skills learned, of falls & bruises and maybe of fractured bones. For sure, romances and later marriages and families grew from meetings here. Many possibly remember the food served here. The photo from the raw files cropped up because of its Christmasy look: The live cedar Christmas tree, the mistletoe and the standing red cinderblock corner. The winning cutline can be factual or fictional - all one or the other, as in the late Steve Aaron's wisdom on gender preference: Pick one and stick with it.. If factual, a hint: This monument stands a few away from a historic and nomadic little building which once stood at the lowest elevation in its county.

Sputnik Aluminum Christmas Tree adored by Author & Cat
2014-12-25 - Harrodsburg, KY - Photo by Mike Watson. . . . my "Sputnik" tree; a present from my long-suffering spouse. Up it went that day; everyone was horrified. Not me, I loved it and still put it up, decorated with vintage ornaments from the '50s and '60s. It goes up for about 24 hours, mostly because the cat likes it more than I do, it seems." - excerpt from accompanying Christmas memories by Adair County Historian Mike Watson
