Scenic Washington Co., KY: Clock on Main Street, Springfield

2015-01-09 - Springfield, KY - Photo by Larry Smith, The Big Dawg, 99.9 Radio.
Springfield, KY, the county seat of Washington County, seems to be doing everything right these days, especially with the small details - as with this analog clock with roman numerals for the time. The clock is on Main Street, by the historic Washington County Courthouse. We're hoping to have a similar clock on Main Street in Campbellsville, KY, with "Main Street" in gold letters arched on top, and "Campbellsville" underneath the clock face. I saw this on the way back from dinner at Chili's in Bardstown. Even though Downtown Springfield is slightly off the road home to Campbellsville, I always like to see what they are doing with their jewel of a Downtown. It never disappoints. - Larry Smith, Operations Manager, Shoreline Communications

Rep. John (BAM) Carney addresses the audience at the Swearing-In Ceremonies on Sun 4 Jan 2015, prior to the start of the 30-day off-year legislative session. Listening, at left, is County Judge Executive Mike Stephens. Carney was speaking on behalf of 16th District State Senator Max Wise, who was unable to attend because of an illness. At the meeting, Rep. Carney said that recent articles in the media might have left the impression that his decision not to seek the Majority Whip position might have led some to believe that he was not seeking re-election as representative. As it stands now, he said, he will be a candidate for re-election in 2016. - EW. Clicking Readmore accesses Rep. Carney's first legislative column from the new session.

Epicurean Kentuckian: New Multi-Grain Bread ready for FM2

2015-01-09 - Tuckers Station Farm, 1535 Bull Run Road, Columbia, KY - Photo by Barbara Armitage.
"This is the best Multi Grain bread I've ever made - and it only took me two years of tinkering with recipes to finally get it right. Made with whole grain wheat, oat flour, whole rolled oats and sweetened with local honey this bread is wonderfully moist and delicious. No artificial anything ever goes in my breads. This is just one of the new items you'll find at the 2015 season of the Farmer's Market on the Square. Take heart: winter can't last forever. It's only 84 more days to the Grand Opening of the Farmer's Market on the Square, Saturday, April 4, 2015. Located in the parking lot of the Adair Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY. For more information contact Barbara Armitage at 270-250-2979," She adds, "I gotta tell you - I think product development is the best part of my job. A Multi Grain bread that certainly rates 4-stars and only 2 years and hundreds of loaves in the baking!," Barbara Armitage writes.
