Favorite Old Photo: Army Buddies after Korea

2015-01-12 - ??? - Photo from Janet Smith Adams collection; submitted by Wynn Beard.
This is a photo of Carl Smith and my dad, Louis Beard. it was sent to me by Janet Smith Adams. I can't make out where they are, it does not look like Campbellsville to me. You may recognize the main street.(Maybe the "Ario Grill" is a clue. From "M - ARIO - N??? or is it "MARION" ???, which might be Main Street in Lebanon, KY. ) I just don't know, I would have to think this was in the 50's. Carl and Louis were the best of friends. Carl ran the Stockyards here in Campbellsville, KY and they both served in reserves (Army Reserves or was it National Guard), Campbellsville, KY with the big group of people who went to Korea. This was probably taken after they returned. Let me know if your recognize where the photo was taken. Wynn Beard If you know where the street is send using the Comments form with this photo.

Matilda Ann Christmas visit to Columbia

2015-01-11 - Photo By Ed Waggener.
Matilda Ann Waggener visited her grandparents in Columbia today, sharing great thoughts and rediscovering the Town Creek. She is wearing her cozy travel blanket in the arms of her dad, Tom, as they prepare for the journey home to Shelbyville. She has reached a mature age where she asks that her whole name to be used now, Matilda Ann, not just her nickname Tillie. The announcement reminded her Granddad of Carson McCullers' book A Member of the Wedding where the main character, Frankie, demanded to be called F. Jasmine Adams. - LW

Fuzzball available at Green River Animal Shelter

2015-01-11 - Green River Animal Shelter - Photo Green River Animal Shelter, 455 Jim Blair Road, Columbia KY. .
There are many great animals at the shelter, but I wanted to bring attention to this very sweet cat. His name is Fuzzball. He is a long hair orange adult cat, already neutered and front paw declawed. He has been adopted once and now is back at the shelter! I don’t know why, he is very friendly. He doesn’t mind being held and he purrs and purrs. Come meet Fuzzball and perhaps youll bring a new family member home! Green River Animal Shelter, Phone 270-385-9655. - Heather Evans Puppies and kittens are cute, but the inability to find them a home is not, please spay or neuter your pet! Phone 270-385-9655. Closed Mondays. Tuesday-Friday, 10am-5pmCT. Saturday, 10am-1pmCT.

Happy Tale: Dog life on Top of the World, at Sugarfoot

Keith trying to get the blanket away from Elmo. Eden Bradshaw had donated her birthday presents to the dogs and Elmo grabbed one of the blankets and took off. It took us quite a while to get it away from him. I guess he wanted to be the first one to sleep on it. - Peg Schaeffer
