Epicurean Kentuckian: Boudin w/Egg Soup, Toasted Taco
 2015-01-19 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Easiest, quietest pre-dawn Breakfast: Pretty Cheap: About 93 cents. Pretty Quick: Prep time - 11 minutes, clean up: 3 minutes. Meets Resident Philosopher standard: Eating is about getting full. Ingredients: Boudin from Walmart meat case. One link. One poached-in soup-egg. 1/16th Diced Sweet Red Pepper. One egg, fried. Cayenne & Black Pepper to personal Scovill limit. One dash of Frank's Hot Sauce. 1 pat of real butter to support Adair County Dairy Industry. One dollop of brought-on (we're waiting for a Tucker's Station Farms version) Sriracha. One more dollop of olive oil. Adair County Water Plant/Taylor County H2) to thin to taste. 1 toasted Flour Taco. Serves one. Minimal cooking apparatus: Soup & Egg prepared in iron skilled, Taco in table top oven. Outcome: Should you try it Recommended, especially if a Real Breakfast can be anticipated within 4 hours, even for timid eaters.

KY Color: West Fork of Crocus Creek and its gentle falls

A gorgeous little fall on the West Fork of Crocus Creek: "From this falls Eastward, West Fork meanders down through bottoms bordered on the South by steep wooded slopes leading up to Traylor Ridge and Jones Ridge and on the North by even steeper wooded slopes leading up to Greenbriar Ridge and Big Pond Ridge," naturalist Billy Joe Fudge writes in the accompanying essay.

With the "winter thaw" (See Wikipedia entry: Thaw, which includes January thaw and the end of January approaching, CM is asking contributors to be on the lookout for this early heralds of Spring, which always invoke salivation for Springtime and Easter, for farmers markets, and home grown onions and salad greens, just around the corner.
