Less is more: A peek at what the Square might look like 2015-01-30 - Corner Public Square, Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. The morning after a semi-truck clipped the aluminum light fixture on the Square, the standard was removed and a traffic cone put in its place. The result was, to many, a more pleasant street scene, and offered - almost - a glimpse of what the the street scene would be like without the overpowering street lights and with buried electrical lines, as is now the case on Lindsey Wilson's campus - but not Lindsey Hill - and on a big part of the Adair County School District campus. And, by the way, it might not take so long to amortize the cost of buried lines. The city foots the bill for street lights to the tune of approximately $100,000 a year. -EW. Chattanooga is closer in time and highway distance 2015-01-30 - Clay County, TN - Photo by Ed Waggener. It's worth the trip just to see the dramatic, at points seemingly endless cuts and fills which have flattened and straightened the kinks and curves on this stretch of TN 52 between Celina and Livingston, TN. It's like a Grider Hill Pass, repeated over and over. Didn't take time to measure the distance or the time change, but the four lane is a far cry from the road it replaced. Now, according to Google Map / Columbia KY to Chattanooga, TN the trip is just over 3 h 8 min.
