Horses prefer outside in Blizzard of 16 Feb 2015

2015-02-16 - Milltown, KY - Photo by Celia Downey.
My horses refused their stalls and treats, this morning - preferring the snow - and remained standing in the storm. I feel fortunate to have captured their moment of Welcome Home. Their barn is open should they decide to go in later. - CELIA

Up north in Campbellsville

2015-02-16 - 101 E Main Street, Campbellsville, KY - Photo from Larry Smith, The Big Dawg 99.9 FM & The WAVE 92.7.
The Big Dawg today is a husky. There's a little traffic on Main Street at N Columbia Avenue in Campbellsville, KY, but for the most part it's pretty quiet. Officials here are urging everyone to stay off the streets unless it's absolutely essential to be out. In the picture, left, there's a Druther's restaurant sign. Though some Druther's restaurants continue as restaurants, my neighbors operate the last remaining Druther's on the planet. Worth a trip in better weather just to see it. We're keeping everyone posted today on weather changes, as quickly and reliably as we can, on The Big Dawg, FM 99.9, and our sister station, The WAVE, 92.7 FM, with collaborative coverage by ColumbiaMagazine.com. - Larry Smith, Operations manager, Shoreline Communications

One Wheel Drive, best transportation mode for snow

2015-02-16 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Pen. As any bike seller will tell you, the best way to get around in the snow is on a fat-tired bike like this Beargrease from Salsa, designed for better stability in mud and snow. This one is ridden by Adair County native Tom Waggener, owner of the opening-any-day-now Small Batch Cyclery in Simpsonville, KY.

Low Visibility in Simpsonville, KY

2015-02-16 - Shelby Co., KY - Photo by Pen.
As the snows moved east, visibility was dropping fast, and by 10amET, snow has begun covering even I-64 much faster than plows can work to clear it. - PW
