David Baker, stream fisheries biologist for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, holds two nice white crappie captured during population sampling in a backwater embayment of the Ohio River in late winter. The backwater areas on the Ohio River make excellent early season crappie spots as do other overlooked crappie waters across Kentucky.

Jaiden Taylor takes 1st in State Beta Science Academy competition

The Adair County Schools are extremely proud of Jaiden Taylor, 8th grader, at Adair County Middle School. Jaiden just returned from the State Jr. Beta Convention in Louisville, KY, this week. Jaiden competed in the Science Academic Competition. There were 4500 students in attendance at the conference from across the state. Jaiden won 1st place and secured himself a bid to the National Beta Convention which will be held in June at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville. Way to go Jaiden! - SHAMARIE CLAIBORNE
