2015-06-17 - 1204 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Auctioneer Dale Hayes was transported through lines of surplus items aboard a Kawasaki four-wheeler this morning at the Adair County School Board's Auction of Surplus Items. The auction exceeded its target, returning over $10,000 to the system. Three surplus school busses brought most of that total, together selling for over $7,200, according to David Jones, Transportation Director and Superintendent of Maintenance; that Steve Foster talking seen to the right of Mr. Jones. Even though rain clouds threatened the auction, they only moderated the temperature to create a pleasant, short sleeve June Day. - Ed Waggener

2015-06-17 - Sign One-One, 1114 Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY. Phone 270-380-1511. - Photo Sign One-One photo. In answer to inquiries about availability of "No Spraying Signs," we've checked around and fourd that one source is right here in Columbia. Tommy Kemp of Sign One-One has already produced this sign for one of his customers and said that it is available for others who might want it. The signs can be produced in metal or corrugated plastic, he said. A 2' x 3' sign like the one above, in corrugated plastic, runs $25. Shipping costs are extra. The signs are being posted by those whose crops, bees, butterflies and own health is endangered by herbicide drift.
