It has been a very busy week at Green River Animal Shelter. We have rehomed 19 dogs/cats since Monday and we just wanted to say thank you to the community for taking interest and giving us encouraging words while we are in the midst of improving our shelter. We would also like to say thank you to the youth group that stopped by from Egypt Christian Church, above, in no particular order, Maddie Loy, Sara Dunbar, Jacob Doss, Hannah Absher, Kassidy Roy, Samantha Hadley and Gavin Loy. It was a pleasure to have them there and the dogs and cats loved the attention. We would like to encourage anyone looking for a pet to stop by and see us. Our hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10am-5pmCT and Saturdays 10am-2pmCT. Phone 270-385-9655 or 270-572-9943 after hours. Thanks, KIM SALLEE Director.

Beshear, Junior Stotts, right of Columbia, KY. Mr. Eldridge is Executive Assistant to Governor Beshear and is a graduate of Transylvania University. Supt Alan Reed welcomes Gov. Beshear to campus

2015-03-21 - Adair County High School, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia KY - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne, Adair Co. School District .
Supt. Alan Reed welcomed Governor Steve Beshear to the Career Tech Center, especially to see the welding and health career paths being showcased. Behind the scenes, before the official program, Supt. Reed said he was pleased that the Governor had commended him for the campus' easy navigation. "Some of the first words spoken to me by Governor Beshear today were, 'I really appreciate those large numbers on your buildings.' Supt. Reed said, "I told him we had spent considerable time and effort on the project and that we receive positive comments nearly every day. The governor’s comments mirrored the many positive comments we have received from community members and visitors alike. There is no reason to park at the wrong building on this campus!"

Max, who doesn't like cats - available for adoption

2015-03-20 - Glens Fork, KY - Photo by Mark Hale.
Some dogs just don't like cats. As it turns out our dog Max, (made famous as the Christmas dog on CM just before Christmas) is one of those dogs. We were so happy to adopt Max and he is a great friend. Unfortunately we need to let Max have a new home away from cats. He would probably do best as a lone pet. Max stays home and is always here to welcome us and anyone else when they come up the drive. We are looking for a good home for Max. He has been neutered and has all his recommended shots. Anyone that is interested in a fine young dog for an active family, Max is that dog. It is a must that cats are not in the equation as he has a tendency to terrorize them. We are now short one cat and pretty sure Max is the reason. We like our cats and would like to keep them. Please help save our cats and give Max a loving home. Interested persons may call or text me at 270 634 2146. Thank you, MARK HALE
