Mike Keltner: Map of the EF-1 tornado 25 Apr 2015

The path of what we now was an EF-1 tornado originated in between the Glens Fork and Joppa communities on Dale Morrison Road. The tornado then continued east toward E Curry Road, crossing Montpelier Road heading toward and crossing the first entrance to Old Montpelier Rd. The tornado held its direction before crossing Old Montpelier Road a second time just South of Holliday Road. After the second crossing of Old Montpelier Road the tornado dissipated and took a right turn (south) before terminating near the Reynolds Creek bridge on Acree Road. The tornados path was 3.8 miles long and had an average damage width of 100 yards. The wind speed estimated average was 105 to 110 MPH in damaged areas.

Cabin Creek Bridge undamage amid storm debris

The last of the 20 County Road Bridges built (of 80 bridges total in the county system) during the eight-year tenure of CJE Ann Melton, suffered no damage from the the storm. Trees, large and small, fell all around it. (It may not be Cabin Creek; that's what I remember; someone correct me if I'm wrong.) The bridge is often called the "Joe & Ada Coffey Bridge. Joe Coffey used to cross it to get to school. Ada is the sweetheart he married, nee Ada Troutman. Their honeymoon continues about a mile down the road, toward Montpelier on Old Montpelier Road.

As if nothing had happened

Except for this one area and, fortunately his residence, debris and down trees and structures were everywhere for plenty of clean up for Marshall Barnett. This picturesque section, with lovely lilacs in bloom looked like it would on any rainy, dogwood winter spring morning.

Storm 25 Apr 2015: What's gone represents huge damage

Local guide Marshall Barnett said that the stub of a silo is all that remains this morning of a huge feeding operation on the Charles Fletcher farm. Debris from the Saturday storm, and downed trees dotted the farm, in the Cedar Creek Valley.

Calm cow amid downed lawn trees all around

Calmly standing through it all The marking place cow, covered in mosses and lichens in an almost breed specific pattern, was unaffected by the winds which took down lawn trees all around it.
