2015-04-28 - Louisville, KY - Photo by Melinda Franklin. Congratulations to ACHS Future Business Leaders of America for their outstanding performance at KY FBLA State Leadership Conference in Louisville. The KY FBLA State Leadership Conference was held at the Galt House April 20-22 of this past week. ACHS had one team to place second; qualifying them for national competition. Andrew Grant add Noah Polston are the members of the Sports Entertainment Management team that placed and will attend Nationals in Chicago on June 29, 2015. Only first and second place qualify for national competition. Students competing at state were Mason Pyles, Noah Polston, Elijah Jackson, Daniel Corbin, Nathaniel Franklin, Andrew Grant, Leonardo Medina, Aaron Taylor, and Grant Cockerham. Also, FBLA students from Adair County High received numerous compliments from advisers and observers from the other counties of Kentucky...compliments on professional business attire and dignified behavior were frequent throughout our stay. Quote from Advise, Sammy Hughes: "This may be the most dignified and focused group of student that I have ever advised in my eighteen years of attending the KY State FBLA Leadership Conference." The following students were not available for pictures: Leonardo Medina, Grant Cockerham, and Elijah Jackson.

Kelsi Anne Walker reads her letter
2015-04-28 - Russell Co., KY - Photo by Sue Buley. Kelsi was asked to read her letter at the HonorGuard fundraiser where Senator Wise, former Senator McGaha, as well as other dignitaries attended. She stood before the crowd of people and spoke with confidence; almost like she did this sort of thing everyday. After her letter was read, and a few teary eyes wiped, she received a standing ovation.

Birds of Kentucky: New Martin Condominiums
2015-04-28 - Greater Bliss, KY - Photo Junior Stotts. Some pretty fancy Purple Martin houses went up at the Junior & Connie Stotts residence yesterday. Even before the "Vacancy" sign went up, the birds started moving in, Junior Stotts reports. He is fascinated by the Purple Martins insistence on dining exclusively aloft. They catch all their food in the air, he said. - CM
