2015-04-13 - Russell Creek Road, Green Co., KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, CM photo.
Saturday April 11, 2015, was a zippety-do-dah day. Glorious, perfect weather with glo with glorious, stunningly beautiful stretches of dandelions. It was not the day of the most butterflies, but many were seen. Wendy Burt, a go-to identifier of all things nature was asked about the butterfly She wrote, "I'm not certain about the butterfly because of the angle of its wings . . . it looks as though it might be a Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) sipping nectar from a dandelion with, yes, henbit in the background." Our thanks to Wendy Burt for sharing her knowledge. - EW

2015-04-12 - Ralph Vaughn Road, Greensburg, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, CM iPhone photo.
Dogwoods are in bloom this year just a little behind redbuds. Usually, everything else takes second place in the dogwood season, but in this photo, the gorgeous Saturday, April 11, 2015 Green County Sky and the beautiful green of the Eastern Red Cedar trump even dogwood. In a few days that will change. - LW
