Judge Mike Stephens administers oath of office to Mike Keltner

2015-04-15 - Adair Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Adair County CJE Michael L. Stephens administered the oath of office to Mike Keltner, newly approved as the Adair County Emergency Management Director, succeeding 23 year veteran EMD Greg Thomas, who resigned effective Monday, April 13, 2015. Mr. Thomas will now devote full time as the Adair County 911 Supervisor. The ceremony followed the regular April 14, 2015, session of Adair Fiscal Court. Only a hint of a smile on Mr. Keltner's face gives away the part of the oath being administered. Yes. Citizens of Adair County can be assured that he, like his grandfather Jimmy Firquin former Adair CJE and legendary lawman, has never had anything to do with fighting a duel. For most of April 14, 2015, Keltner's first and only day as acting Emergency Management Director was a busy one, directing activities during a frenetic day of flooding. - EW

Flooded Trace Creek in Miller Park, Taylor County

2015-04-14 - Photo By Austin Yates.
Cameras were clicking away in Adair and surrounding counties all morning as flood waters slowed and/or completely halted traffic. This scene is of Trace Creek looking at the little foot bridge that crosses from the parking lot to the picnic area in the Robert and Bernice Miller Park, Campbellsville. Normally the bridge is several feet above the stream but not today. Debris on the bridge shows that the water, at its highest, was over the bridge. Photo submitted to columbiamagazine.com by recent Campbellsville University graduate Austin Yates, news director at Q104 & KCountry radio. - LINDA WAGGENER
