Terry Harvey, Adair County School Board Member (Division 1) commended the Governors' and Rogers Scholars, and the program, citing the benefits his son, who attended both Governors' and Rogers summer programs, received.

The Adair County School Board recognized - and heard from - the 2014-2015 Governors' Scholars and Rogers' Scholar. From left: Riley Grant, Aaran Taylor, and Sarah McQuaide, all Governors' Scholars who attended the program at Murray State University, and Destiny Kinnett, Rogers Scholar. Two Governors' Scholars, Jessi Taylor and Timothy Watson, were not present. Each of the scholars above gave a brief statement of their experience this past summer and what that experience is already doing for them in their lives. - EW

Epicurean Kentuckian: Oh, do you know The Muffin Man?

Muffins are a specialty of the bakery at Harvest Cafe on the Square in Columbia. Each day the baker, Steve Chundy, rotates delivery routes in Columbia with muffins, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches. Many of the customers remember him as "The Muffin Man," not the one one Drury Lane, but the song does get in one's head at the sight of the muffins, or the sight of Steve on his rounds. They are good. The Cafe's baked goods change daily, but every day there is a good selection of muffins. - EK

KY Afield Outdoors: Turkey Season Opens Saturday

Sarah Jenkins of LaGrange with a huge tom turkey she harvested during a recent spring turkey season in Shelby County. Spring turkey season opens April 18, this coming Saturday. Kentucky is blessed with many public turkey hunting opportunities for this spring season.
