At Sulphur Well Store, Metcalfe Co., KY
2015-05-17 - Photo by Linda Waggener. Every now and then it's just good to share a conversation with someone from your own era. That was what Charles Downs, left, told Geniece Marcum on a visit to the Sulphur Well Store. He said it matters what a person relates to. He theorized, for instance, if you grew up on the heels of the Great Depression, having very little and saving every scrap, it's nearly impossible for someone with the plentitude most of today's generations enjoy to relate. Downs and his wife Elaine continue the tradition of the country store in downtown Sulphur Well, Kentucky across the road from the famous artesian Sulphur well, still flowing for those inclined to take a sip in the interest of improved health.
