Pope Lick Monster succumbs to gentrification

2015-08-25 - Fisherville, KY - Photo by Pen. According to wikipedia, "The Pope Lick Monster is a legendary part-man, part-goat and part-sheep creature reported to live beneath a Norfolk Southern Railway trestle over Pope Lick Creek, in the Fisherville area of Louisville, Kentucky." Today, the Louisville Loop passes underneath the trestle, just beside Pope Lick Road, with runners and bikers providing steady traffic from dawn until dusk on the ambitious, paved and landscaped 100-mile park loop around Jefferson County.

Campaign Memento: Jimmy Carter button, Bardstown, KY visit

2015-08-24 - 101 E Main Street, Campbellsville, KY - Photo by Larry Smith.
I think it would be appropriate to post this photo of a classic Jimmy Carter political button. Carter is another reason for each of us to do a better job at humbling ourselves. This man should be the role model for every man in America. The button was given to me by my cousin, J.R. Goff, former District Judge in Taylor County, KY, who attended the campaign rally July 31, 1979. - LARRY SMITH, Operations Manager, Shorelines Communications - The Big Dawg, 99.9 FM and FM 92.7, the Wave.
