Voting was brisk early this morning at Jim Blair

2015-05-19 - Jim Blair Center, 901 Hudson Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, CM photo.
At around 7amCT, this morning, voting was brisk at the Jim Blair Center, where polling was underway for South Columbia #2 and West Columbia. Election officer Vicky Pike, above, stands 100 feet away from the poll to show how far away the electioneering has to be to meet new court mandated rules. Earlier, the distance had been 300 feet. After the pre-commute time was over, voting seem to slow to a crawl, with little or no waiting to vote the short ballots. A buzzer by the ramp, above was available for those needing assistance. - Linda Waggener

The Whitehurst Diaries: Rough Green Snake

2015-05-19 - Adair Co., KY - Photo by Jim Whitehurst. Our neighbor, Jay Rose, assured me that the rough green is a local species, and this snake does indeed wear keeled scales."
