Wants help saving endangered plant at Jim Blair: Matalea

My wish is to remind folks that there is a state-endangered plant, matalea at Jim Blair Community Center, that our Natural Heritage is rich but needs to be recognized. The photo is from a plant that got weed-wacked this spring, but may come back. I believe it to be elsewhere on the property. This plant can host the monarch butterfly and so is important in supporting their recovery.

Bringing in East Columbia, Election night, 19 May 2015

Shirley Moore and Shirley Reliford, election officers in East Columbia, couriers for East Columbia precinct carrying the black bag with the vote for the precinct, which votes in the Wheet Fellowship Hall on Jamestown Street. East Columbia gave Comer 62 votes, 57% of the ballots cast in the Republican gubernatorial primary. The precinct, which a few decades ago was Democratic, voted 82.35% for Jack Conway who received 28 of 34 votes cast. The other officers at the poll yesterday were Katherine Jones and Wanda Bardin.- EW
