State doubles red lights -- will they stop the accidents?

2015-05-22 - Adair Veterans Memorial Pky & Burkesville Road, Columbia, KY - Photo CM photo.
The recent deaths of three people at this intersection have resulted in the state changing from a single to double red lights. Will drivers taking the bypass from KY 55 South, traveling west into the sun at 55 mph, really see these better and have time to stop before hitting vehicles traveling KY 61 between downtown Columbia and Walmart? Should the speed on the bypass be lowered? Can't that be done by the Columbia City Council? Should the sped differential be addressed? Traffic enters the entersection from 55 mph on three roads, at 35 mph on one. Is what's been done enough to stop the carnage? Your opinions welcome.
