Emily Irvin sends picture of little bear run over by mowing machine

2015-06-11 - Sulphur Creek bottom - Photo Cellphone photo by Larry Irvin. It's not the Hardscratch Bear, but at John Thomas' Quick Stop head breakfast club table, it sure does suck in gullible journalists. This is the picture of the actual baby bear Larry Irvin ran over with his mowing machine. Paired photo: See also Adair County figure largely in Bear news

Infrastructure woe woe woe woe

2015-06-11 - Lindsey Wilson College Columbia, KY. - Photo by Ed Waggener. This Columbia/Adair County Utilities Distrct (CAUD) Water Tower, in pretty shabby condition now, could be newly painted in time for the opening of school had it not be for delays by the majority on the current board. It could have been paid for already. Once the crown jewel of Adair County's assets, the current board's majority has the utility mired in controversy of its own making. Some are still hopeful the problems of the utility aren't another Westlake in the making. Anyone interested should pay close attention and remember a history of past public works projects, who the players are or were, and what happens when public assets are at stake. Maybe even go to the meetings. There's one tonight, Thursday, at 7pmCT, at the CAUD Office Conference Room, 109 Grant Street, Columbia, KY. Maybe there will be positive news to report. - EW
