Birds of Kentucky: Muscovies leave roadway after valiant stand

After remaining in our lane on the roadway for what seemed like five minutes, two of these guys finaly headed for the verge, joined by a third who must have been a safety patrol. The location is right near one of the many roads in Cumberland County which end at the river's edge. - EW. Photo 3 July 2013.

Flood Fri 3 Jul 2015: temporary Tree Island Lake on Dillon Street

While driving around Columbia after the downpour with Linda looking for places where clogged culverts were causing flooding problems with pooling on roadways, I couldn't help but notice this Tree Island Lake on Dillon Street. The peepers seemed to be enjoying it. They could be heard rejoicing in a boon for frogdom, even if it created big problem for the City, County, and State Road Deparments around the county. - EW

Flags looking good for freedom weekend in Columbia

Looking past the Columbia Baptist Church on the right toward the historic Adair County Courthouse from Greensburg Street July 3, 2015, flags are flying on the breeze. American flags are flying on all streets leading off the square marking this weekend of freedom celebration.
