Scenic Cumberland Co., KY: Still some Best Kept Secrets
2015-07-07 - Scotts Landing Road, Cumberland Co., KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, CM. The signs into Burkesville no longer herald "Kentucky's Best Kept Secret," but there are still hidden, almost secret places on every road. Surprisingly, not every resident of the county seat is aware of the treasures almost within hollering distance. This picturesque farm is on Scotts Bottom Road. To put the location in perspective, as best as we learned from a Burkesvillian who has been all over the county, "If you went over that bluff (in the background) you would be over on KY 61 on the new stretch of road past the Salem Park Bridge as you were coming toward Burkesville, from Breeding, KY." - CM

Memento of the 1909 Adair County Fair
2015-07-07 - Adair County, KY - Photo a local anonymous collector. I thought it might be interesting for folks to see what it cost for a season ticket to the Adair County Fair 106 years ago: $1.30. Inside this cover there was a ticket stub, which read, "Not transferable. Admit" and then a blank for the name of the ticket holder. This one belonged to Luther Grider. On the back of the folder there, apparently used for a notepad, was this penciled inscription: "19 Broadway 1225 B. Moellers Rest. Second Street." Maybe a reminder of two addresses while whoever owned the ticket at the time was visiting Louisville, KY (?). Any comments are welcome. - Anonymous owner for the not-for-sale keepsake
