2015-07-12 - Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Bridgette Bailey. My daughter and I found this dog in the middle of Greensburg Street in the area of Hot Tanz. He is very friendly and was still attached to his lead. We took him to our house to keep him safe until we find his owner. I can be reached at 270-378-2436. Thank you so much.

II - Stream Project: Imagine post construction beautification

2015-07-12 - Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Town Creek comes out here after crossing Campbellsville Street. The project is almost finished now, and, in itself will dramatically improve the impression of travellers to and from Columbia, and, on a greater scale, appearance of Columbia as a college town. Along with the enhancements in the project itself, there's grand possibilities for realizing the Park City lying in full view with inexpensive attention to the Walking Campus easily at hand. A million dollar view x3, from top floor of the Jeffries Building

2015-07-12 - Jeffries Building, 228 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener.
One of many fantastic moments, views, from the Top Floor of the Jeffries Building, 228 Public Square, Columbia, KY. It was once the Columbia Masonic Lodge meeting room, once a private art gallery, studio; always a great place to form visions for Adair County's economic development. - LW

I - The Stream Straightening project: Not the Tennessee-Tombigbee

2015-07-12 - Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
It's evocative of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, but the biggest transport it can handle, now, is probably a child's model sailboat. But as construction work continues on the Town Creek stream project, it's easy to think about what the community will do to do after construction is complete. The north side retaining wall was in yesterday, and the forms were partially removed. The drainpipe empties groundwater from the NE side of the intersection. There's a relative spacious gravelled area. Depending on ownership, it looks like a delightful place for more landscaping and perhaps a rest area beside near the sidewalk. Perhaps a stream biologist can enlighten on the quality of the stream for aquatic life. Surely crawdads will be back. Maybe some minnows. Possibly some bullfrogs and creepers and some water dogs. One wonders too, if there will finally be a northside walk or steps to the Wolford monument, perhaps some benches, and if the walkway/steps might continue to the driveways through the cemetery, if maybe, finally, the city will take advantage of the cemetery as a peaceful urban park, as many other cities have done, including Edmonton, Burkesville, and Jamestown. - EW Photo taken Saturday, 11 Jul 2015. A Christmas in July memory

2015-07-12 - Edmonton, KY - Photo Marcum family memento.
Occasionally we go through all the priceless treasures in Mom's collections and come across unforgettable but laid aside gems, such as this poem, from her youngest child, Jane, who shares Mom's gift for words and story-telling. We hope you enjoy it. - LW
