Miss Victoria's luxury model Mahindra

2015-07-24 - Miss Victorias Pampered Angus Ranch, Greater Bliss, KY - Photo by Victoria Browning Pike.
The new county Mahindra is a wonderful tractor, but not the Lexus-level model that sits on Miss Victoria's Pampered Angus Ranch, Whether from tractor envy or respect for the Adair County's premier rancher, the Adair County Fiscal Court purchased a Mahindra for its road department today. The court relied on good reports on the machine, also backed by the reputation of Charles Giles & his grandson Chaz, of G & G Motors, the Mahindra Dealer. Miss Vicky's Mahindra has a air conditioned cab - not a sleeper cab - and a great feature, a pump button thickens the seat and raises a short person where they can see over the hood. Mahindra & Mahindra is an Indian Company, but Miss Victoria's tractor, dubbed, "Miss Mahindra" carries a "Made in the U.S.A" sticker and is assembled at one of two or three Mahindra plants in America. - EW

Farming tips: Bonnie Sue, the scourge of the coyotes

2015-07-24 - Miss Victorias Pampered Angus Ranch - Photo by Miss Vicky .
Bonnie Sue the natural blond heifer, the love child of one of Miss Victoria's Pampered Angus and an amorous Charolais which busted through a neighbor's fence, is shown, center state. Now Bonnie Sue is the most honored of the girls. She is absolute hell on coyotes, Miss Victoria says. The photo was taken back in the winter. Number 82, frame right, is an as yet unchristened heiferette who just wanted to get her picture taken. - CM

New Sign at Entrance to Lindsey Wilson Street

2015-07-24 - Fairground & Lindsey Wilson Streets, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
The new sign at the entrance to Lindsey Wilson Street from Fairground Street was getting the last "E" in "College" installed by "Awesome" Jackie Glenn and Jackie Chapman at just before noon today, attracting a lot of side superintendents and drive-by advice. All the work on the sign was done by the LWC Plant Operations Crew. Besides the Jackies, Gary Coomer, left, Danny Brock assisted in the building, and Mark Jones and Gerald Lucas did the masonry work. At right, Mike Newton is driving a department golf cart. There will be a low planter in front of the base of the sign, and behind the sign, a taller landscape planting when Lindsey Wilson landscaper Taft Neal takes his turn in the project. A recessed rope light will illuminate the sign from the capstone. An almost identical sign is being completed at the corner of Young & Williams Street, at the Holloway Wellness Center.

Miss Vicky sets high bar for other Greater Bliss Gentry

2015-07-24 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener. Miss Vicky has set the bar high for the other farm gentry of Greater Bliss. The new silver Silverado four door crew cabin pickup truck is her latest farm equipment acquisition. She's also recently acquired a new, bright red Mahindra tractor from Charles Giles, pretty much leaving Kenneth, Junior, Shelley, Jimmy Woody, and Nathan Lasley in the dust. The crew cab will offer much greater comfort for farm babies' trips to the vet and the cramped Toyota or Honda Fits the calves are used to. In case Republicans think truck & tractor will distract her from politics, she's raring to bring the fight on for the Democrat ticket. Above, she's photographed after coming in Runner Up to be the first through the Campbellsville Street light when the new intersection was opened.
