2015-07-25 - Columbia, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
Putting "a Darrell" in perspective.
It's the perfect Saturday for tomatoes. Red one's are still coming on with tender, edible skins, intense flavor before the fall taste sets in, and there are bountiful green tomatoes that that most perfect South Central Kentucky delicacy: Fried Green Tomatoes. This tomato is the perfect size for a Tomato Steak w/Miracle Whip (and fresh basil, preferably from a table side plant) - or for a thick cut, tomato on Wonder Bread w/Mayo on both slices, salt & pepper (and fresh basil if you can find it) sandwich. This tomato was right from the neighborhood where it was grown, Coburg, KY. Check farmers markets times in CM Events. - EW
