Old scrapbook from Mr. Hixson & Mr. Robertson: Title page

2015-08-02 - Columbia, KY - Photo from scrapbook now owned by Hixson & Robertson .
Not so many people will know - but a few students of history, especially of Lindsey Wilson College history, can predict some of the content of this old scrapbook owned by history buffs Kevin Robertson & Barry Hixson, in real life a teacher at ACHS and businessman, respectively, by examining this title page. There's, for today, gender irony and a "d" on this page which gives a clue to the treasured compiler of this book and what the compiler became later. Comments are welcome as the scrapbook unfolds more, today. - EW

Old scrapbook from Mr. Hixson & Mr. Robertson: From 1934-35

2015-08-02 - Columbia, KY - Photo from scrapbook now owned by Hixson & Robertson .
Kevin Robertson and friend Barry Hixson bought a fascinating scrapbook with this cover and "Vernon Rodgers Book. School Year 1934-1935 on the title page. CM will be posting a number of the 27 pages photographed on Friday afternoon, July 31, 2015. Kevin Robertson is a civics teacher at Adair County High School, and Barry Robertson, the Little Debbie Distributor in this area, shares his love of history. They bought the scrapbook at an auction recently and want to share its contents with others in the area. At a later point, we'll post an unbrella paragraph with a link to all the photos. And with this page, perhaps someone will send comments on Vernon Rodgers. Most of the clippings are from the Hill of Lindsey Wilson. One, however, is of a commencement for "Columbia High School and Adair County High School," some 20 years before there the schools were consolidated to establish Adair County High School, at it's first location on Greensburg Street, at the building whose address is non 322 Gen. John Adair Drive. - ED WAGGENER

Scenic Adair Co., KY: Moonrise on Loy Cemetery Road

2015-08-02 - Loy Cemetery Road, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener.
The moon was large and there was enough light for a reflection in this farm pond on Loy Cemetery Road to distract a moment from the spectacular sunset vying for attention on the other side of the road. Paired Photo, See Also: Scenic Adair County, KY: Sunset on Loy Cemetery Road
