2015-08-04 - 350 Dohoney Trace, Holladay Place, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener.
The pad for the new Sleep Inn Hotel now shows an almost complete footprint. Site work had progressed a great deal when this photo was taken Mon 2 Aug 2015. The hotel is being built by Columbia TMT Construction & Enterprise. (Today's puzzle: What is he significance of "TMT"? If you know, and you are not a hotel insider, send your answer using the Comments button with this photo - Solved by Lee Ann Sullivan. Click Read More for that answer). Already, we can imagine guests asking for a Sunset Side Suite, or requesting a Sportside Suite, where they'll be reminded that the image of Raider Bob is a reassurance they are only an Eastward LBN Exit, Exit 49, for exiting sports events at Lindsey Wilson Sports Park. - CM.

2015-08-04 - City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
Attorney for Duo-County Telecom H.K. Cooper, Russell Springs, KY, acknowledged Duo-County CEO Tom Preston, seated in the gallery, at last night's August 3, 2015, regular city council meeting. Others in the photo are, clockwise from left, Council members Charles Grimsley and Mark D. Harris; City Clerk Rhonda Loy, Mayor Curtis Hardwick, City Attorney Marshall Loy, and Council members Craig Dean, Linda Waggener, and Craig Lasley. The empty chair, left, belongs to Council Member Ron Rogers, who, Mayor Hardwick said, was absent for the first time ever in many terms on the legislative body. Also, the clock on the wall, left, may have passed the last mile of the way. It was unresponsive last night. Mayor Hardwick assured the worried council that he would handle that situation. - EW

Barnetts Creek Church Button-Lady Spotted in New Hampshire

2015-08-04 - Manchester, NH - Photo submitted by BJ Hagy. Sue Sinks Barber and BJ Hagy. She now lives in Texas. He lives in New Hampshire. On a chance meeting in Manchester, they found many, many coincidences in their lives since they knew each other when they both were residents of Barnett's Creek, and what being on a "button drunk" meant. The button decorated shirt Sue Barber is wearing helped explain that term, and her purchase of it from a friend of Hagy's subtracted another degree of separation. - CM
