Edible Barn? Pulaski County, KY - sheathed in kudzu

2015-12-14 - SW corner, KY 837 & KY 80, Pulaski, County, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
At least, in some cultures, where kudzu is a prized food, the perfectly sheath of this grand old barn is edible. The delightfully whimsical building is carefully tended at the intersection of KY 837 and KY 80, about 12 miles west of Somerset, KY. - EW

Travel: The kind of art they have in Somerset, KY

2015-12-14 - Mellow Mushroom, 2520 Monticello Steet, Somerset, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
Innocently looking for a "new restaurant serving Indian Food" in Somerset, we chanced on the Mellow Mushroom. It isn't the one. Their menu trends toward pizzas, hoagies, libations, and pies. There's distinctive art at each Mellow Yellow location in the chain, and this is the outdoor art for Somerset, KY. It looks to have maybe 100 dozen circles of gears, hubcaps, brake drums and other round pieces of metal, and looks to be something which might be built someday in the welding school at Adair County High - by the art class. It must have been great art. May not be as great a piece as the Fractured Shere sculpture, but then, this a pizza parlor, not the Vatican. It kept me fascinated for four or five minutes, not bad with an attention challenged art critic wannabe's ponderance. - EW
