We were drawn to take pictures of these beautiful roadside Daffodils, and then took a moment to listen to the old Chelf voices across the road from the Roley Cemetery, and from The overgrown steps in the photo at left went up to an old Chelf home once located there and the foundation still waits for someone to build again. The closeup at right looks south toward the crossroads at Knifley, where imaginings of some old Chelf home being tugged from this family epicenter to Knifley, as the Old Coyles did in "Shipping News," is evoked, but that almost certainly never happened. - Ed & Linda. Whitfield receives achievement award for diabetes advocacy 2016-03-05 - Washington, DC - Photo from the office of Rep. Ed Whitfield. U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01) received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Diabetes Advocacy Alliance during a reception held this week in Washington, DC. Whitfield served as Co-Chair of the Congressional Diabetes Caucus for the past five years before stepping down ahead of his retirement this fall. The Congressional Diabetes Caucus was founded in 1996 and is among the largest caucuses in Congress. "It is an honor to receive this award, just as it has been to be a part of the Congressional Diabetes Caucus," Whitfield said. "Though I do not have diabetes, I have seen first-hand from my constituents the challenges this disease poses for Americans of all ages. Our efforts these past few years through the Congressional Diabetes Caucus have helped combat this disease and hopefully will one day play a part in ending diabetes once and for all."
