Stealthy predator at top Fortune Street Food Chain, waits for prey
2016-05-09 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com (c). Totally camouflaged, this merciless predator is lying in wait, ready to pounce on unsuspecting prey: an opened bag of Whiskas, an open can of tuna, whatever, he takes what he wants. If none of that meets its doom, perhaps hone his skills with a solid swat at a dandelion seed head, strain and miss a butterfly, or spring for an elusive starling. Still, Blue is the alpha male around here.

Scenic Adair County, KY: A fabulous gray day
2016-05-09 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com (c). The misson was simple: Find brambles with blossoms and confirm that last week's cold snap was "Blackberry Winter,: not "Multiflora Rose Winter," is there is such a thing. The mission failed. But the trip may have been improved to scenes like this fabulous gray day one fence line roses, cattle grazing in green, yellow tinted fields. locust coming into full bloom, idyllic farm buildings in the near ground, barns and a single silo in the distance, and a road, beckoning, rising to meet you. - CM
