Jeffries Bldg - Icicles & snow hanging around, waiting for more
2016-02-14 - Rear of Jeffries Building, 228 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, CM. Caught this icicle art, photographed from the back of the Jeffries Building, aka Radio Shack Building, now coming under the ownership of Lindsey Wilson College. The snow in the photo reminded me of Granddaddy Marcum's saying when looked out over the last of a snow. He'd say, "That snow is just hanging around, waiting for more." Quite wise of course, when the days were like this Sunday, when, according to the National Weather Service, more snow will arrive after 10amCT, today (the snow is already falling as this is written, barely past 7amCT). The photo, by the way, is from the back side, the Reed Street Side of the Building. And, by the way, Lindsey Wilson has already started the renovation on the roof. The renovation of any Downtown Building is significant, but this one is major, and is anticipated to be THE big turning point for the Square. It's the first presence for Lindsey Wilson in the Downtown, which many believe will accelerate the visions of a revival for the district as at no other time. - LW
