Kentucky Afield Outdoors staff writer Kevin Kelly holds a 38-inch muskellunge he caught from Cave Run Lake. The muskellunge population in Cave Run Lake earned an excellent rating in the 2016 Fishing Forecast produced by the Fisheries Division of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. The forecast is a useful tool for planning productive fishing trips.

Mike Pape, candidate to succeed Rep. Ed Whitfield, came to Columbia last night to attend Sen. Rand Paul's Town Forum, shown above with Trish Hadley Zatkoff, Columbia, KY. Pape has the endorsement of his former boss, and, as of now, the biggest war chest. He said that he also has the support of a close Hopkinsville neighbor, Ramona McCloud Collins, a longtime resident of Columbia and widow of Buick dealer Bobby Collins. Pape said he intends to be in Columbia very frequently. With him, not in the photo, was David Burris of Columbia.

TJ Health Columbia has official opening

TJ Regional Health President and CEO Bud Wethington held the ceremonial scissors preparing to cut the ribbon, with Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce president Ellen Zornes to his right holding the bow, and former Westlake administrator Neal Gold to her right. Today's event announcing the formal changeover from Westlake to TJ Health Columbia packed the dining room of the hospital with officials, health related industry leaders, friends and board members of both Westlake and of TJ Regional Health.
