Epicurean Kentuckian: Angelica Seng makes Pasta Salad at CMS

Campbellsville Middle School fourth-grader Angelica Seng pours vegetables into the pasta salad. Campbellsville Middle School fourth-graders recently learned about nutrition and made their own pasta salad. Jordan Stapp, 4-H program assistant at Taylor County Extension Office, spoke to students on Thursday, February 25, 2016. Stapp talked to students about the food groups – with a focus on grains – and how much food they should eat in a day and in a serving size. He discussed recipes with the students, and how they will use math when cooking. After the lesson, Stapp helped students make pasta salad with whole wheat and garden delight pasta. It also contained cauliflower, sugar snap peas, broccoli, carrots and Italian dressing. When the salad was ready, students got to sample their creation.

Campbellsville High School teacher Deanna Campbell helps senior Morgan Milby cook sausage for the class's English muffin pizzas, Deanna Campbell's money skills and life essentials classes at Campbellsville High School. After students made the pizzas, and other treats, they they were able to enjoy them. Campbell's students have studied nutrition this school year, along with how to manage money when shopping for food.
