Big Al Owens and John, professional photographer covering Cubs

2016-02-28 - Chicago Cubs Spring Training Camp, Sloan Park, 2330 W Rio Salado Parkway, Mesa, AZ - Photo by Innocent Bystander.
"This is me on the left, with John, a professional photographer who is covering Spring Training for the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs have not won the World Series since 1908. They have not been to the World Series since 1945 when they lost to the Detroit Tigers. Las Vegas has the Chicago Cubs as the favorite to win the World Series in 2016. I have been a Cubs fan since my Dad introduced me to baseball in 1974. I have watched many losing seasons in Chicago, so I am really excited about the possibility of seeing the Cubs go all the way. I only wish that my Dad was here to see it " - Big Al Owens

Big Al's Chariot: H & O Freightliner out of Campbellsville, KY

2016-02-28 - Truckstop somewhere in America - Photo By Big Al Owens, the Big Rig Trucker.
Regular CM Contributor Big Al Owens, who just contributed the excellent photo series from the Chicago Cubs Spring Training Camp, has an important, demanding job. But he always treats it as one of the greatest opportunities in life. He gets to see the world driving this Freightliner, pulling out of Campbellsville, KY for H & O. For the rest of us, when we're traveling America, seeing an H & O rig, a big red Volvo Mister "P" Express freightliner, a tractor trailer bearing the Rogers Trucking Co., badge; or the Lewis Transport logo on the side of a semi, or a Tarter Gate truck, laden with Casey County produced gates, is always a welcome source of pride. - CM

Widened Cumberland River at Burkesville, KY Sat 27 Feb 2016

2016-02-28 - Lower River Road, Burkesville, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, CM photo.
The Cumberland River was at a high stage on Saturday, February 27, 2016, as seen from the Roadside Marker commemorating the Burkesville Ferry and the unwelcome social call by a rascal from Trousdale County, TN, CSA General John Hunt Morgan, before be paid further unwelcome calls north into Adair and Taylor Counties. The lowest roadway into the river was underwater, and the Cumberland had swelled beyond the tree lines. Still, safely away from the water, it was, as always, a great place to enjoy one of Pat & Norman Hamilton's BBQ Shoulder Sandwiches. - EW
